Beginning the Convo on Gender Roles

Thirteen years ago I packed my bags and went on a journey to find out what God thinks, the Bible says and how the Church interacts over the concept of men and women in ministry and marriage.  I am still on that journey and it has been a complex path filled with pain, inspiration, surprise, joy, relief, agony, sorrow, intellectual stimulation and soul-stirring challenges.

I have been pondering the best way for me to write my own blog entry on the subject.  I am still pondering.  This subject can be inflammatory at best and downright hurtful at worst.  But the conversation is so necessary and can be a tool that can bring freedom to men and women who have been bound up with confusion, wrong information and apathy towards the subject.  I believe with all my heart that this issue is central to this particular point in the history of the Church.  So I take the challenge to write about it very seriously.  As I ponder I will leave you with this ::

There are still many things that I don't understand but I have thankfully landed in a place that gives me strength to keep asking the right questions. Recently a friend of mine wrote an article on the subject.  Check out April Diaz' article on women in ministry. Her questions at the bottom of the article are great questions to ponder, whether you are a man or a woman.  I would love for you to read it, make your observations and most importantly ask me some great questions that could spark further conversation.

Cool! Thanks, my friend. Looking forward to reading your thoughts, too!!!!

I will say that the conversation is at best healing, hopeful, and progressive - not just inflammatory. I've received some amazing encouraging feedback from people from this article and believe God's on the move in righting this justice issue!

Love you.
